Avarekalu husli or field beans curry

Avarekalu or field beans is a seasonal beans which we get in winter season, the pods are peeled and seeds are removed and added to curries/different food items. Health benefits of having beans are many. This beans has its own taste and flavour which gives a special taste and texture to curry.This is a traditional curry which taste delicious and very easy to prepare with simple ingredients.In our mother tongue kannada we call this curry as “avarekalu husli”. Which is irresistible in taste, this curry is a best combination for chapati, poori, dosa and idli.

Serves – 4
Ingredients :-
Avare kalu/tender field beans seeds – 1 bowl [250gm]
Onion – 2 medium [chopped]
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Green chilly – 3 [chopped]
Curry leaves 2 spning
Coriander leaves – 1 bunch [chopped]
Salt to taste
Oil to fry
For grinding:-
Grated coconut – 1 cup
Turmeric powder – 1tsp
Procedure :-
Take a mixer jar add grated coconut and tirmeric powder and make a paste,keep aside
Take a pressure cooker pan,heat it add oil when it becomes hot add mustard seeds when it begins to crackle add curry leaves and green chilies
Saute for a while and add chopped coriander leaves and avarekalu/tender field bean seeds fry until the raw smell evaporates.
Add grounded coconut paste mix it add salt to taste add i glass of water,pressure cook for 2 whistle
When cooker becomes cool ,open the lid of the pressure cooker and bring the cury to boil for a minute .Turn off the flame transfer the dis to a serving bowl and enjoy the dish with poori/chapati/dosa/idli.
