Tempered rice recipe I Oggarane anna

Preparation Time : 10 mins Cooking Time : 10 mins Serves : 2 or 4

Tempered rice/oggarane anna is a quick and easy rice dish that prepared in a short time with cooked rice or leftover rice. Mustard, chana dal, urad dal green chilies, curry leaves, and onion is tempered and tossed with cooked rice which makes comfortable and tasty rice dish.

Ingredients:

Cooked rice – 1 bowl

Mustard – 1 tsp

Chana dal – 1 1/2 tsp

Urad dal – 1 1/2 tsp

Green chilies – 4 or 5 chopped

Curry leaves – 2 springs

Coriander – 1 small bunch chopped

Onion – 2 or 3 no’s chopped lengthy

Salt to taste

Oil to fry

Turmeric – 1/4 tsp (optional)

Method:

Heat a pan with oil in it, when it is hot add mustard, allow it to splutter, then add channa dal and urad dal fry until it turns to light brown in color. Take care not to burn any ingredient while frying.

ensure the lentils is turned to light brown, then add chopped green chilies, curry leaves and coriander, saute for few secs, then add onion fry until it turns translucent. Add salt to taste, saute.

Add cooked rice into, toss it properly as there are no lumps on a medium-high flame, stir until the rice gets warm for 3 to 4 mins.

Remove from the flame, garnish with fresh coriander.
