Sweet sour spicy mango curry

Sweet, sour, spicy mango curry is a typical mangalorean recipe that is every Konkani’s favorite. All the functions, weddings in summer have this curry on the menu and this dish is prepared at least once every week, in every home during the mango season.It is a tasty and tangy dish which is loved by all.Taste of the dish depends on the mangoes you use which is not-so-sweet, sour-sweet/ sweet mangoes to make this dish.It is prepared by ripe mangoes jaggery, chilies and a tadka is added which makes a delicious curry.Cook, give it a try 🙂

How to make sweet sour spicy mango curry
Ingredients –
Ripe mango – 4 to 5 medium size
Jagger y – 1/2 cup grated
Green chili – 1 no
Maida/all purpose flour – 1 tbs
Salt to taste
For seasoning – mustard seed – 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves – 1 spring
hing – 1 pinch
Urad dal – 1/2 tsp
Oil – 1 tsp
Procedure –
Wash the mangoes and peel the skin of it.
Take a casserole,add water in it and add the removed skin and squeeze gently and remove the peel from it.
Add 2 or 3 cup of water into it and add peeled mangoes
Add a green chili (slit into two pieces),jaggery and salt to taste ,cover the lid of the casserole an cook till the mangoes are cooked.
When the mangoes are cooked see the taste add jaggery and salt if required,(the taste should be sweet ,sour and spicy)
Mix maida/all purpose flour in water and keep ready,add it to the boiling mixture slowly by stirring,cook till the curry becomes little thick
and turn off the flame.Heat a tadka pan by adding oil in it,add mustard seed when it begins to crackle add hing and curry leaves,add this seasoning to the prepared curry
Allow it to cool
Sweet sour spicy mango curry is ready to taste.Serve hot or cold as soup /enjoy as a side dish for rice.
