Sweet pongal recipe

Sweet Rice Pongal is an special neivedhyam dish for many festivals. Even in many temples Sweet Rice Pongal is given as Prasadham. For most of the festivals we prepare this wonderful dish as neivedhyam. It is one of the easiest sweet recipe that we can make with less effort.On makara sankranthi festival this dish is prepared which is delicious and healthy,it is prepared by cooking moong dal,rice with jagerry ,coconut ,roasted dry fruits with ghee.
Preparation time – 10 min
Cooking time – 20 min
Serves – 8
Ingredients –
Rice – 1 1/2 cup
Moong dal – 1 1/2 cup
Coconut – 1/2 big part [to be grated]
Jaggerry – 2 cups grated
Ghee – 5 tbs/1/2 cup
Cashew nut – 30 no’s
Raisins – 20 no’s
Cardamom/elachi powder – 1/2 tsp
How to prepare sweet pongal –
Take a pressure cooker pan, dry fry moong dal for a minute and add 1:2 water into it and pressure cook for 2 whistles. When it is done, allow the pressure of the pan settle down of it’s own and set aside/keep ready.
Cook rice by adding 3 and a 1/2 cup of water to cook 1 1/2 cup of rice and keep it ready.
Heat a pan by adding grated jaggery, add 1 cup of water to it and bring it to boil,
When it dissolves fully add 2 tsp of ghee into it ,add cooked moog dal into it
Then add cooked rice and cooked moong dal, mix together, stir
Add grated coconut and cardamom powder into it and mix properly,cook in a low flame, close the lid of the pan for 3 to 5 mins and turn off the flame.
Take a tadka pan add 1/2 cup of ghee, when it is hot, add cashew nuts and raisins, fry until golden brown in colour. Add fried dry fruits into pongal, finally mix once again. close the lid for 5 min and serve hot.
Sweet pongal is ready to serve.
Serve and Enjoy sweet pongal with ghee.
