Spinach chakli or palak chakli recipe

Palak chakli is a instant chakli, healthy snack item made from spinach puree, it is also a quick chakli muruku or Dhidir chakli means quick chakli in Kannada is a instant chakuli which melts in the mouth when it is tasted, it is quick and very easy to make recipe for any occasions, all you need is Palak puree,green chilly, rice flour, roasted gram, butter and simple spices to prepare this recipe. It is also a traditional Indian snack prepared especially during festivals like Ganesha chathurthi, deepawali, krishna janmastami. Do try this simple and delicious snack and enjoy it as a tea time or any time snack.
Preparation time – 10 min
Cooking time – 30 min
Serves – 5 (makes 25 chakli’s)
Ingredients –
Rice flour – 2 cup
Roasted gram – 1/2 cup
Gram flour (besan) – 2 tbs
Spinach puree( made by blending a bunch spinach and 2 green chilies) – 1 cup
Butter – 50 gm
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Sesame – 2 tsp
Salt to taste
Cooking soda – 1 pinch
Oil for deep frying
How to make or to prepare palak chakli –
Add roasted gram (chutney dal) into a mixing jar,run the mixer and make a fine powder and keep ready.
Combine all flour in a bowl, add butter and rub well the ingredients so that butter should spread or coat to the powder
Add all the other ingredients, Add spinach puree little by little and knead well into a smooth dough. It should be easy enough to press.
Fill a portion of dough in a chakli maker and squeeze the murukku using the star shaped plate in the press. Fry the murukkus by pressing the murukku mould on a butter sheet or on a plate. Meanwhile heat oil in a kadai when it is hot add prepared chakli into it gently on by one.
Cook in medium flame. Fry them till it turns to be crispy and light brown and till the oil sound subsides. Flip gently and fry the other side and remove the exess oil with a help of a slotted spoon.
Remove them in an absorbent paper to remove excess oil.
Aromatic, crispy, healthy and tasty spinach chakli is ready to enjoy. When it is cool to room temperature, transfer the dish to a air tight container.
Quick and easy Palak chakli are now ready to be enjoyed as a tea time or any time snack.
