Shavige payasa or vermicelli kheer recipe

A delicious and quick sweet vermicelli kheer or shavige payasa in kannada,it is one of a easiest and simple payasa or kheer which can a bachelor or a beginner can try making this recipe. None of the festivals or function is complete without payasa,It is one of a traditional sweet dish made for many occasions.
Preparation time – 10 min
Cooking time – 15 min
Serves – 4
Ingredients –
Vermicelli – 1 cup (preferably wheat vermicelli)
Sugar – 1/4 cup
Milk – 500 ml
Cashew nuts – 2 tbs
Raisins – 1 tsp
Cardamom or elachi – 3 no (powdered)
Ghee – 3 tsp
How to Prepare or make shavige payasa or vermicelli kheer –
1.Heat a kadai by adding 1 1/2 tsp of ghee, add broken (wheat) vermicelli and fry to golden brown in colour and keep aside. [Do not burn or over fry vermicelli as it gives bitter in taste fry in a medium flame carefully.]
2.Add milk in a vessel/pan, when it begins to boil,add sugar stir till it dissolves fully.
3.Add fried/roasted vermicelli into it and keep steering,cook in a low flame till the vermicelli is cooked properly
4.Heat a tadka pan add remaining ghee roast cashew nuts and raisins to golden brown in colour and keep ready
5. when vermicelli is cooked or done turn off the flame add powdered cardamom /elachi powder and roasted nuts ,mix all together and serve hot or cold
Delicious Shavige payasa is ready to be served.
