Rava Tomato Bath I Masala Tomato Upma

Rava tomato bath is a spicy version of upma, a tangy and spicy upma made with sooji-rava, tomatoes, and spices. A tasty, healthy and a quick breakfast recipe.
Ingredients:
Sooji Rava – 1 1/2 cup
Mustard – 1/2 Tsp
Cumin – 1/4 tsp
Cashew nut – 2 tbs
Urad dal – 1/2 tsp
Chana dal – 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves – 2 springs
Green chilies – 2 no’s chopped
Coriander – 2 tbs chopped
Onion – 2 medium chopped
Tomato – 3 medium chopped or puree
Coconut – 1/2 cup grated (optional)
Garlic – 2 or 3 pods
Ginger – 1/4 inch
Clove – 2 no’s
Cinnamon – 1 small
Coriander powder – 2 pinch
Turmeric – 2 pinch
Chilly powder 1/4 Tsp
Salt to taste
Oil/ghee
Method:
Heat a heavy bottomed pan with 1 tbs of oil/ghee in it, when it is hot add Sooji Rava into it, fry until Rava turns to light brown in a medium flame.
It takes 5 to 6 mins to be done, once done remove it to a plate and set aside. In the same pan add oil for seasoning, keep all the other ingredients handy.
Crush garlic, ginger, cinnamon, and clove together to a coarse paste and keep ready, when the oil is hot add mustard allow it to splutter, then add cumin, cashew nuts fry, then add chana dal, urad dal fry until light brown, then add green chilies, curry leaves, chopped coriander, saute for few secs, now add crushed spices, saute until the raw smell evaporates completely.
Then add chopped tomatoes or puree into it, fry until the oil separates to the edges
Add coriander, turmeric, and chili powder, saute for few secs. Add 3 1/2 to 4 cup of water, add salt to taste, allow it to boil, once it begins to boil, add roasted sooji rava into it slowly by stirring continuously as there is no lumps. Cook covered in a low flame for 5 min,
Fluff it for once, again cook it for 2 min covered, finally add grated coconut mix it well. Switch off the flame. Rest it for 5 min before you serve.

Note –
To make more delicious – You can add cooked green peas/ field beans (Avarekalu)/ your favorite veggies in preparation.
