Oats uttapa recipe

Oats uttapa is a nutritious and healthy dosa recipe, which can be prepared in a short time. It is a healthy recipe especially for diabetics, It is one of a easiest and healthiest breakfast recipe prepared with oats and fine rava (semolina), for topping i have added grated carrot, finely chopped onion, coriander, grated coconut and a mixture of poppy seeds and cumin is sprinkled to make it more yummy and tasty. Do try and enjoy as a break fast dish or as an evening snack.
Preparation time – 20 min
Cooking time – 5 min /dosa
Serves – 4
Ingredients –
To prepare batter –
Oats – 2 cup
Chiroti rava (fine quality semolina) – 1/2 cup
Salt to taste
Cooking soda – 1 pinch (optional)
Method –
To make or to prepare batter for oats uttapa –
Add oats in a mixer jar and make a dry powder (coarsely) and keep ready.
Take a bowl add chiroti rava (semolina), powdered oats and salt mix it properly.
Add little by little water and make a batter to dosa consistency (the consistency of the batter must not be too thick nor too thin it should be normal dosa consistency.) and set aside until you prepare topping for it.

for topping –
Carrot – 2 no’s grated
Onion – 2 no’s finely chopped
Coriander – 1 bunch (1 – cup) chopped
Coconut – 1/2 cup grated
Poppy seeds – 1 tsp
Cumin – 1 tsp
Salt – 1 pinch
Method –
To make or to prepare oats uttapa –
Take a dry bowl add grated carrot, coconut, chopped onion, coriander and salt and mix altogether and keep ready. Take cumin and poppy seeds in a cup(dry) and toss it.
Keep all the ingredients ready as shown in the above image.
Heat a flat tawa, grease it with oil, when the tawa is ready to prepare dosa, add a ladle of batter in the center of the tawa, add prepared topping on it and tap on the dosa gently.
Sprinkle poppy deeds and cumin on it, add ghee/ oil around it and cook in a medium flame, when it is done,
Flip it to the other side and cook until onion gets golden brown in color (about 2-3 min)
Remove and put it in a serving plate. Continue the same procedure, to prepare for the rest of the remaining batter, serve hot with any chutney or sambar.
Enjoy healthy and nutritious Oats uttapa with chutney.
Tips –
To prepare dosa – Once you add batter on hot tawa, no need to spread it, naturally it will spread then immediately add 3 to 4 tbs of prepared topping on it (sprinkle on the dosa) You can add your choice and quantity of topping on dosa’s.
For topping you can also add chopped capsicum, panner, mushroom, or any veggies of your choice.
After preparing the batter, it gets thick until we prepare topping, then add little more water to bring it to dosa consistency.
You can make oats uttapa by adding oil/ghee/butter or you can make it by just greasing the tawa, which is left to your taste and choice.
