Oats Idli recipe

Instant Oats Idli is a delicious Indian recipe served as a breakfast. Rich in fiber oats idli is a best and healthy breakfast recipe, which is very appetizing and easy to make breakfast. Oats provide us with a wide range of health benefits. Oats have a great source of essential vitamins and minerals. Although the original idli itself is quite nutritious, this innovative version is even more wholesome and filling, give a try and enjoy this delicious recipe as a breakfast dish or as an evening snack.

 

 

 

 

 

Ingredients:

Oats – 1 cup

Semolina – 1 cup

Ghee – 1 1/2 Tsp

Salt to taste

Cooking soda – 1 pinch

For tempering –

Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp

Chana dal – 1 tsp

Cashew nut – 2 tbs (broken into small pieces)

Dill leaves – 1/2 cup finely chopped

Coriander – 3 tbs finely chopped

Other Ingredients

Carrot – 1/2 cup grated

Curd – 1 1/2 cup

Oil

Method:

To make or to prepare Oats Idli mixture – 

Take a mixer jar, add oats in it

make a coarse powder, Add it to a dry bowl/vessel, add semolina mix together.

Add cooking soda and salt, combine together.

Add ghee, toss it well

Set aside for 10 min, till you prepare to season for it. Heat a pan by adding 1 tbs of oil in it, when it is hot add mustard seeds, allow it to sizzle, add cashew and chana dal, fry until it turns to light brown in color. stir-fry (take care while frying, do not over roast the ingredients as it spoils the taste of the dish).

When nut turn to brown in color, add chopped dill leaves and coriander, saute until the raw smell disappears from it.

Turn off the flame, allow it to cool at room temperature.

Add prepared seasoning to oats idli mixture, combine together.

Grease Idli molds with oil, Add grated carrot in each mold (as shown in the image) and keep ready.

Add curds to the mixture and mix to Idli consistency.

The consistency must be not too thick nor thin.

Fill the prepared batter to each mold ( should be little less to full )

Add water to the base of the steamer, arrange the mold in it, close the lid of the steamer and cook in a high flame for 10 min. Switch off the flame after cooking for 10 min. Rest for 5 min, before you open the lid of the steamer.

Remove the mold from the steamer, remove idli’s with the help of a flat spoon from the mold carefully, one by one.

Nutritious super soft Oats Idli is ready to enjoy with coconut chutney, sambar or Chutney Powder.

Note – 

I have added chopped dill leaves to prepare this recipe, eating herbs or adding herbs in breakfast has numerous health benefits, as Dill leaves have special taste and flavor which enhances the taste of the dish.

Along with grated carrot, you can add cashew, grated coconut, a tomato slice and chopped coriander to attract your kids to eat 🙂

No need to fry semolina as ghee is added to avoid stickiness to prepare idlis.
