Nati koli saaru recipe or country chicken curry recipe

Nati koli saaru is one of a traditional non veg dish,Nati KoLi Saaru literally translates to country chicken curry. The chicken that are bred on farms are more healthier and tastier as compared to commercially bred chicken. The people in rural areas make an excellent chicken curry that one can enjoy with Ragi mudde or rice and the taste will linger in your mouths for a long long time.The secret to the curry lies in the paste prepared with spices,which is yum in taste .

Ingredients –
Nati koli/country chicken/desi murg – 1 kg
To prepare a paste – 1
Onion – 3 no’s cut into medium pieces
Garlic – 15 cloves
Ginger – 2 inches cut roughly
Green chilies – 12 no’s
Coriander leaves – 1 bunch
cinnamon – 5 no’s
Clove – 8 no’s
Coriander powder – 2 1/2 tbs
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Oil to fry – 2 tbs
To prepare paste – 2
Coconut – 1 cup grated
Poppy seeds – 2 tsp
How to prepare country chicken curry –
Clean the chicken pieces and drain out the water in it.
Heat a pressure pan by adding 1 tbs of oil in it,when it is hot add chopped onion it,fry till it is translucent
Add chicken pieces and salt ,cook till the water in the chicken evaporates and oil separates from the chicken.
Add 1 cup of water and pressure cook for 3 whistles and set aside.
Heat a kadai by adding oil in it,add all the ingredients to prepare paste – 1, except dry powders and coriander leaves.Fry it the raw smell in it goes ,allow it to cool.
Make a paste by adding all the ingredients to prepare paste – 1 and keep ready.
Add the prepared paste to the chicken add water to your desired consistency and bring it to boil,pressure cook for 3 whistles
Prepare a paste by adding ingredients to prepare paste – 2 in a mixer jar.
When the cooker is cool open the lid and check the chicken is done,if it is done add prepared paste – 2 and bring it to boil for 5 to 8 min.If the chicken is not done pressure cook again( as country chicken takes more time to cook.) before adding paste – 2.
Turn off the flame,transfer the dish to a serving dish and enjoy with ragi mudde and rice.
Delicious Nati koli saaru is ready to be served.
