Mutton chops Recipe I Lamb curry

Mutton chops is an easy south Indian recipe that you can make with mutton, It’s a spicy mouth watering mutton dish which is prepared particularly with lamb chops, it is one with only the rib bone, The most common kind of meat chops, A perfect side dish for biryani or for any Indian bread.
Preparation time – 15 min
Cooking time – 20 min
Serves – 4
Ingredients –
Mutton chops – 500 gm
Salt to taste
Oil to fry
To grind –
Coconut – 1/4 cup grated
Onion – 2 no’s chopped roughly
Garlic – 1 medium (10 to 12 cloves)
Ginger – 1/2 inch cut into thin slices
Clove – 6 no’s
Cinnamon – 2 small sticks
Pepper – 1/2 tsp
Dry chilies – 8 no’s
Coriander – 1 tsp (optional)
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
For tempering –
Onion – 1 small chopped
Coriander, mint, fennugreek leaves – 1 tbs (optional)
Method –
To make or to prepare Mutton chops –
Wash Mutton chops in running water, rinse drain water in it and keep ready. Heat a pan by adding 1 tbs of oil in it, when it is hot add all the ingredients to grind except coconut and dry powders.
Fry until onions turns to translucent. remove from the flame add grated coconut and dry powders.
Combine together, allow it to cool at room temperature. When it is cool grind it to a fine paste by adding water. Heat a pressure pan by adding oil in it, when it is hot add chopped onion,coriander, fenugreek leaves,mint. Saute till you get a fresh aroma. Add mutton chops into it toss it well, add salt to taste, cook till the water in the mutton gets evaporated.
Add grounded paste into it combine together, for 5 to 8 min, add 1 cup of water and pressure cook for 4 to 5 whistles and remove from the flame. When the pressure in the pan settle down by its own, open the lid, check the taste and mutton is done, ensure it is done,
Boil the curry and bring it to thick in consistency. Switch off the flame.
Enjoy Mutton curry as a side dish for Biryani or with plain rice or with any Indian bread, Idli, Dosa or with Akki rotti.
Note –
Add salt and chilies as per your taste. Cook mutton till it is done or until it is properly cooked to get perfect taste.
Sometimes if the quality of the mutton is tender or good, it takes less time to be done. So take care while you cook.
The consistency for mutton should be always thick. If you want more gravy add more onion but very less quantity of coconut is always preferd to prepare traditional Mutton chops.
