Mushroom Pepper fry recipe

Mushroom pepper fry is a pepper flavored south Indian starter or side dish recipe made with sliced mushroom and pepper powder in a south Indian method that can be served as a side dish for rice or Rotis or as an appetizer. A quick and easy curry that can be made in a short time with simple ingredients. 

Ingredients:

Button Mushroom – 200 gms

Capsicum – 1 medium chopped

Onion – 1 or 2 chopped

Ginger- garlic paste – 1 tsp

Pepper-corns – 1 1/2 tsp

Fennel seeds – 1/2 tsp

Turmeric – 1/4 tsp

Coriander – 1/2 tsp

Garam masala – 1/4 tsp

Coriander for garnishing

Salt to taste

Oil/ghee to fry

Method:

Rinse mushroom, chop it into medium pieces, drain the water in it and keep ready.

Pound/ powder peppercorns and fennel seeds to a coarse powder and keep ready.

Heat a pan with oil/ghee in it, when it is hot add chopped onion fry until it turns translucent, then add capsicum and ginger-garlic paste, fry until you get a nice aroma.

Then add chopped mushrooms, saute until the moisture releases.

Now add coriander, turmeric, Garam masala powder saute well for 1 min. Cook covered

Finally, add pounded pepper and fennel powder, toss it well cook covered for few more mins until done. Remove from the flame.

Garnish with coriander toss it well.

Mushroom pepper fry is ready to serve

Serve hot as a side dish for rice/ rotis / as an appetizer.
