Sambar plays a important role in south Indian menu.We make different types and different version of them.Moongdal sambar is a quick and easy sambar which goes good with rice,idli,dosa.It is prepared by cooking moongdal with onion,garlic,tomatoes and given a seasoning,which makes a delicious sambar,it is extremely easy and quick samber ,which can be prepared in a short time.

Preparation time – 10 min

Cooking time – 15 min

Serves – 4

Ingredients – to pressure cook

Moong dal – 1 cup

Onion – 1 medium chopped

Tomato – 2 medium chopped

Coriander leaves – 2 tbs chopped

Garlic – 8 cloves

Ingredients – for seasoning

Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp

Onion – 1 small chopped

Curry leaves – 3 springs

Red chilies – 3 no’s broken into two pieces

Chili powder – 1 tsp

Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp

Garlic – 4 cloves crushed

Salt to taste

Oil to fry.

How to prepare or make moong dal sambar – 

Take a pressure cooker pan add moong dal,chopped onions,chopped tomatoes,coriander leaves,garlic and a cup of water,pressure cook for 1 or 2 whistles .

Heat  a pan by adding oil in it ,when oil is hot add mustard seeds,when it begins to crackle add crushed garlic,curry leaves,broken red chillies fry for a while and add chopped onion fry till onion to golden brown in colour.

Add cooked moong dal,chili powder,turmeric powder and salt to taste

Add a cup of water and bring it to boil for 5 min

Moong dal sambar is ready to be served with rice/idli/dosa.
