Kerala mutton roast is a simple curry which taste awesome as a side dish for rice or roti’s. It is a  very simple and tasty recipe for Lamb/Mutton lovers. Kerala traditional Mutton Curry is a very spicy, tasty and healthy non vegetarian recipe. Do try and enjoy as a side dish for roti’s or rice.

Preparation time – 15 min

Cooking time – 30 min

Serves – 4

Ingredients –

Lamb mutton – 750 gms

Turmeric – 1/2 tsp

Salt

To grind –

Coriander – 3 tbs (dry roasted)

Garlic – 2 medium whole (peel the skin)

Ginger – 2 1/2 inch  

Fennel seeds/soumph – 1 tsp

Kashmir red chilies – 15 to 20 no’s

Method –

To make or to prepare Kerala mutton roast –

Rinse the mutton pieces twice in water drain the water in it completely, Add turmeric powder, salt and set aside (until you prepare grounded paste).

Add all the ingredients to grind in a mixer jar and grind it to a fine paste by adding water to it.

Add the grounded paste into the mutton mixture and mix properly.

Add little (1/2 cup) water to the mixer jar .

Add it to the mutton mixture and keep ready.

Once again mix together. Set aside for 15 min.

Add it to a pressure pan and cook it for 5 to 6 whistles until it is done/cooked.

When the pressure in the cooker settle down by its own remove the lid of the pan, check the mutton pieces are cooked, ensure it is soft and done, then bring it to boil until it is thick in consistency. (if the mutton is not cooked, cook until it is done) remove from the flame.

Ingredients –

For seasoning –

Onion – 2 – 3 chopped

Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp

Curry leaves – 1 bunch

Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp

Coriander – 2 to 3 tbs chopped for garnishing

Oil – 4 tbs (preferably coconut oil)

Method –

For seasoning –

Heat oil in a pan, when it is hot add chopped onion, curry leaves and fry onions turns to light brown in colour.

Add ginger garlic paste and saute until you get a fresh aroma, add garam masala powder into it and mix

Add cooked mutton mixture into it and toss it well.

Bring it to a thick in consistency and remove it from the flame and granish it with chopped coriander.

Transfer the dish to a serving dish and Aromatic and delicious Kerala mutton roast is ready!!! Enjoy it as a side dish for roti’s or rice.
