Jeera Rice

Jeera rice is a mildly spiced and flavorful Indian rice dish flavored with cumin. jeera rice is one of the most popular rice dishes in restaurants, many people prefer to have jeera rice instead of plain basmati rice to go along with dals or curry, the seasoning with cumin and other aromatic spices makes the dish tasty and flavorful. It is one of the simplest, easiest but most ordered rice dish in Indian restaurants. Jeera rice goes very well with most of the gravy dishes.
Ingredients:
Basmati rice – 2 cup
Bay leaf – 1
Cumin – 1 tbs
Clove – 4 no’s
Cinnamon – 2 small pieces
Cardamom – 1
Green chilies – 2 chopped (optional)
Ghee/oil – 3 tbs
Salt to taste

Method:
Rinse Basmati rice, drain the water, soak it for 15 to 20 mins.
Heat a heavy bottomed pan by adding ghee/oil in it. When it is hot add all the spices, saute until cumin splutters, then add green chilies, saute.
Add soaked and drained Basmati rice into it, saute a while.
Add 4 cup of water and salt to taste, bring it to boil, when it begins to boil make a low flame, cook covered for 15 min.
Cook till the rice is cooked and the water has been fully absorbed.
Once done fluff the rice gently.
Aromatic Jeera rice is ready. Serve jeera rice with any gravy dish or curry.
