Instant dal dosa is a healthy and protein-rich, without fermentation made using mixed dal, rice, and flavorful spices, which makes a tasty and healthy breakfast. This recipe is similar to Adai dosa which is prepared with mixed dal, rice along with ginger, cumin, coriander, chilies, and coconut, here I have added ginger, garlic, chilies, and coconut, and onion is used for toppings which makes a spicy and tasty dosa’s, It can be prepared instantly or also fermented, Instant dal dosa is served with coconut chutney, jaggery mixed with coconut mixture, chutney pudi or sambar. It is a nutritious dosa recipe, rich in proteins and vitamins. Do try and enjoy as a healthy breakfast or as an evening snack.

Ingredients:

Dosa rice – 1 cup

Idli rice – 1/2 cup

Tur dal – 1/4 cup

Chana dal – 1/4 cup

Moong dal – 1/4 cup

Urad dal – 1/2 cup

Methi – 1/2 tsp

Flattened rice/Thick Avalakki – 2 tbs

Coconut – 1/2 cup grated

Ginger – 1 inch

Garlic – 4 or 5 cloves

Dry chilies – 5 no’s

Cumin – 1/2 tsp (optional)

Salt to taste

Cooking soda – 1/4 tsp (optional)

Oil/Butter/Ghee

For toppings –

Onion – 1/2 cup

Coriander – 1/4 cup chopped

Method:

Rinse and soak rice, chana dal, tur dal, chana dal, moong dal, together in a bowl, Rinse and soak urad dal and methi in a separate bowl. Rinse and soak flattened rice in a cup. Soak it for 4 to 5 hrs.

If you are blending in a wet grinder add all the soaked ingredients and spices together.

If you are blending in a mixer jar blend urad dal, methi and flattened rice to a smooth paste, then blend rice, dal, and spices in two or three batches to a smooth paste to a dosa consistency (the consistency of the batter must be not thin or thick in consistency blend it to regular dosa consistency).

Once the batter is ready add salt and cooking soda (optional) mix well and rest it for at least 15 to 30 mins

Heat a flat pan, brush it with oil, keep blended dosa batter chopped onion, coriander (for topping) oil, or ghee ready/handy to make dosa.

Take a ladle of dosa batter, pour on the center of the hot Tawa, spread to a circle gently, sprinkle oil/butter/ghee of your choice, sprinkle/add chopped onion, and coriander on it.

Once the dosa is done, flip it over or fold it and,

Remove from Tawa serve with chutney or curry.
