Hesaru kaalu husli I Green gram sundal recipe

Hesaru kaalu husli or green gram sundal is a nutritious and healthy recipe, which can be enjoyed by all age groups. Kadalekaalu, hesarukaalu, alasandekaalu guggri is very common prasad (neivedya/offering) during Navratri, Ganesha chathurthi and for other occasions. It is a very simple and tasty dish which goes well with chapati or rice.  

Preparation time – 5 min

Cooking time – 10 min

Serves – 4

Ingredients –

whole green gram – 250 gm (soaked)

Mustard seeds – 1 tsp

Asafoetida – a pinch

Green chilies – 2 chopped

Curry leaves – 2 springs

Coconut  – 1/2 cup grated

Coriander leaves – 1 bunch chopped

Lemon juice – 1 tsp

Salt to taste

Oil to fry

Procedure to make or to prepare husli – 

Soak whole green gram for 4 hr drain and pressure cook moong with 1 cup water and salt for 1-2 whistles. Drain and keep ready.

Heat a kadai by adding oil in it. When it is hot add mustard seeds allow it to sizzle, add asafoetida, curry leaves and chopped green chilies saute for a while.

Add drained whole moong, mix well

Add grated coconut and mix

Add lemon juice and mix. Remove from the flame.

Add chopped coriander leaves, mix altogether properly.

Hesaru kaalu husli or Green gram sundal is ready to for neivedya/offering. Serve hot.
