Herb mutton chops recipe

Mutton chops is an easy south Indian recipe that you can make with mutton, It’s a spicy mouth watering mutton dish which is prepared particularly with lamb chops, it is one with only the rib bone, The most common kind of meat chops, A perfect side dish for biryani or for any Indian bread. Herb mutton curry is a delicious, aromatic, grayish side dish prepared by adding herbs and spices, which is flavorful and yummy in taste, do try this traditional dish to serve with rice or roti’s.

Preparation time – 10 min

Cooking time – 10 min

Serves – 4

Ingredients – 

Mutton chops – 500 gm

For seasoning – 

Fenugreek leaves  – 1 tbs chopped

Mint – 1 tbs chopped

Dill leaves – 1 tbs chopped

Coriander – 1 small bunch chopped

Onion – 1/2 chopped

Salt to taste

Oil to fry

To grind –

Onion – 1 medium chopped roughly

Garlic – 10 to 12 cloves/pods

Ginger – 1 inch cut into pieces

Pepper – 1/4 tsp

Green chilies – 2 or as per your choice

Mint – 1 small bunch

Coriander – 1 small bunch

Coconut – 1/2 cup grated

Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Clove – 4 no’s

Cinnamon – 2 small pieces

Method –

To make or to prepare Herb Mutton chops –

Wash and drain mutton chops pieces, Heat a pressure pan by adding 2 tbs of oil in it, when it is hot add chopped 1/2 onion,saute for a while, add chopped herbs and fry till u get a fresh aroma, do not over roast just saute till you get a fresh aroma, mutton chops pieces into it.

Add salt and saute, make a low flame. Add all the ingredients to grind in a mixer jar, make a fine paste by adding water to it and add it to mutton

Stir, mix properly in a high flame, combine by adding water (1 cup) Pressure cook for 4 to 5 whistles.

After pressure cooking, rest it to cool, remove the lid, bring the curry to boil, check the taste add salt if necessary,(if mutton is not cooked pressure cook for 1 or 2 whistle again) bring the curry to boil until thick in consistency.

Serve hot, Enjoy as a side dish for rice, biryani, poori, chapati, idli, dosa, plain akki roti or neer dosa.

Note – 

Add salt and chilies as per your taste. Cook mutton till it is done or until it is properly cooked to get perfect taste.

Sometimes if the quality of the mutton is tender or good, it takes less time to be done. So take care while you cook.

The consistency for mutton should be always thick. If you want more gravy add more onion but very less quantity  of coconut is always prefer ed to prepare traditional Mutton chops.

Always wash and rinse chopped herbs in water twice before adding to any dish, drain the water in it.
