Dindigul Special Chicken Biryani Recipe

Dindigul Biryani is a popular south Indian main course, an aromatic special south Indian Biryani made with aromatic spices and jeera samba rice in preparation, which makes a flavorful and delicious rice dish. An easy to make recipe compared to other south Indian Biryani, A traditional and unique way of making Biryani. A lip smacking rice dish to all Non-veg lovers. Ingredients:
Chicken – 1 kg
Jeera samba rice or Govido bhag rice – 2 cup
Onion – 2 no’s chopped
Green chili – 5 to 6 no’s slit
Fresh ginger garlic paste – 2 tbs
Mint – 1/2 cup chopped
Coriander – 3/4 cup chopped
Coriander powder – 2 tsp
Chili powder – 1 tsp
Yogurt – 1 cup/about 200 ml
Salt to taste
Oil – 5 tbs
Ghee 1 tbs
Lemon juice – 2 tsp
To make Biryani powder –
Fennel seeds – 2 tsp
Cumin – 1 tsp
Black stone flower – 5 no’s
Star anise – 2 no’s
Mace – 1 flower
Coriander – 2 tsp
Pepper – 1/2 tsp
Cinnamon – 3 – 4 small pieces
Clove – 8 no’s
Cardamom – 4 no’s

Method:
- Rinse chicken in water for 3 times, drain the water in it and set aside.
- Chop all the ingredients as shown in the above image and keep ready.
- Add ingredients to make biryani masala in a mixer jar (without frying)
Blend it to a coarse powder and keep ready and also keep all the ingredients handy to start.
Heat oil and ghee in a vessel, when it is hot add chopped onion and slit green chilies, fry until it turns to translucent, add ginger garlic paste saute until you get a nice aroma, add chopped mint and coriander
Saute for 2 min,
Add blended biryani powder, chili powder and coriander powder fry for 2 min, add yogurt saute, bring it to boil for 2 min
Add chicken pieces and salt, saute together, close the lid and cook it for 15 min in a medium flame (let it cook in the water in it),
When the chicken almost done, Then add 3 1/2 cup of water to cook 2 cup of jeera samba rice, bring the mixture to boil, when it starts to boil add lemon juice and stir
Add rinsed and drained jeera samba rice into it
Again bring it to boil, make a low flame, cover the lid, cook it for 15 to 20 min until done. Saute once or twice before it is done,
When it is done remove from the flame, rest it for 10 min before you serve.
Enjoy flavorful, Dindigul Special Biryani with lemon, tomato, onion and cucumber slices, onion raitha and non veg curry curry as a side dish.
