Chicken masala curry recipe
Chicken masala is a grayish curry which is a best combination for any Indian breads ,it is a spicy curry prepared by grinding fried brown onion and added in the curry which gives a special taste to the curry,it is a easy to prepare recipe with simple ingredients yet delicious.
Preparation time – 15 min
Marination time – 1 hr
Cooking time – 25 min
Serves – 8
Ingredients –
For marination –
Chicken – 1 kg
Curds/yogurt – 1 cup
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Lemon Juice – 1 tsp
Salt to taste
To prepare curry –
Onion – 250 gm
Garlic – 7 cloves
Ginger – 2 inches
Green chilies – 4 no’
Garam masala powder – 2 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Chilly powder – 1 tsp
Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil to fry
How to prepare chicken masala curry –
Take a bowl add washed and drained chicken pieces in it add curds/yogurt,lemon juice,turmeric powder and salt ,marinade for 1 hr
Take a mixer jar add ginger,garlic and green chilies and make a coarse paste without adding water
Slice the onion and fry till it becomes golden brown,cool it and make a fine paste and keep aside.
Heat oil in a kadai,add crushed ginger garlic and green chilly paste and fry for a while
Then add grounded brown onion paste,fry till the oil separates from it
Add all the spices except pepper powder and fry well
When the masala leaves the side of the kadai put marinated chicken pieces and cook on a low flame.Close the lid of the kadai while cooking
Mix altogether and add water
Cook till the chicken is done ,finally add pepper powder when the curry becomes thick in consistency and turn off the flame
Transfer the dish to a serving dish and enjoy the dish with roti’s
