One of the most popular Indian dessert, here’s for you the Gajar ka halwa recipe known to have originated in Punjab, it is a delight during the winter months. Grated carrots, milk, sugar and nuts are stirred and cooked together. Carrot halwa is described as a halwa having a combination of nuts milk,sugar and milk with grated carrot. It is a light Punjabi dessert with less fat. At festival time Punjabi’s strongly prefer vegetarian dishes as well as desserts in their thali. Carrot halwa is a popular dessert all over India and often served at most festivals. It tastes great when served with vanilla ice-cream . 

Ingredients:-

Grated carrots-one big bowl

Sugar-two small cup

Milk-one small cup

Kova-100gms

Elachi-4no,[powdered]

Chashewnuts and almonds

Oil-2tbl spoon

Ghee-2tbl spoon

Procedure:-

Take a pressure cooker pan.

In a high flame heat the pan, add 2tbsp of oil and 1tbsp of ghee, add grated carrots in the pan stir fry for while till the raw smell changes.

Now add two small cups of sugar in it mix well.

Add sugar mix well and add one cup of milk and bring it to boil .

Now close the lid and pressure cook by one whistle.

When cooker become cool open and bring it to boil,cook till it becomes thick.

Now add Kova and mix well.

Take a kadai add a table spoon of ghee and fry cashew nuts and finely chopped almonds till it becomes golden brown in colour.

Finally add roasted dry fruits and cardamom powder in to it.

Carrot halwa is ready to serve.
