Brahmi Tumbuli Recipe

Brahmi Tumbuli is a very nutritious and delicious South indian curry, Tumbuli is a coconut and yogurt based curry, It is an quick and easy to make recipe prepared with Brahmi leaves, Brahmi is a medicinal herb that grows in the fields and is a powerhouse of nutrients. It is a creeper known as ondelaga in Kannada, thimare in Tulu and vallarai in Tamil. It has been extensively used in Ayurveda. It is said that Brahmi leaves when consumed early morning in empty stomach boosts memory power and also has numerous health benefits.
Ingredients:
To grind –
Coconut – 1/2 cup grated or chopped
Green chilies – 2 no’s
Ginger – 1 small piece
Cumin – 1/4 tsp
Brahmi leaves – 15 to 20 leaves (saute in little oil)
Yogurt – 3/4 cup
Salt
For Tempering –
Mustard seeds – 1 pinch
Asafoetida – 1 pinch powdered
Curry leaves – 1 spring
Oil – 1 tsp

Method:
Rinse Brahmi leaves in water, drain the water, Heat a pan by adding little oil in it, when it is hot add bramhi leaves, saute until it gets hot, remove from the flame and set aside.
Add coconut, cumin, ginger, green chili blend it without adding water, when it gets powdered add brahmi, salt and water to blend, blend it to a smooth paste.
Add grounded paste into a bowl, add yogurt or beaten curds combine it to medium thick in consistency , stir
Heat a pan by adding little oil in it, when it is hot add mustard, allow it to splutter, add curry leaves, dry chilies and asafoetida, remove from the flame.
Add it to prepared curry.
Mix with the curry.
Quick and easy Brahmi Tumbuli is ready to serve. Enjoy as a healthy meal with rice.
