Bottle gourd Milk Curry I Sorekai Palya for chapati

Bottle gourd milk curry is a very delicious recipe made with bottle gourd and milk, a yummy side dish for roti varieties. Bottle gourd is a healthy vegetable with numerous health benefits which must be included in the diet often. Bottle gourd cooked with onion, ginger garlic paste, chilly powder, and simmered in milk gives the curry a special taste. Bottle gourd curry is made in different ways but this simple recipe enhances the taste with mild spice. Adding milk gives the veggie a very creamy texture.
Ingredients:
Bottle Gourd – 2 cups
Onion – 2 medium chopped
Curry leaves – 1 spring
Ginger garlic paste – 1/2 tsp
Chilly powder – 1/2 Tsp
Turmeric – 2 pinch
Garam masala – 1/4 tsp
Milk – 200 ml boiled and cooled
Salt to taste
Oil to fry
Coriander for garnishing
Method:
Peel the bottle gourd, discard the spongy portion and the seeds from it, chop it into small pieces, immerse in water immediately and keep ready. Heat a heavy bottomed pan with oil in it, when it is hot add chopped onion and curry leaves fry until it turns translucent.
Add ginger garlic paste, chilly powder, and garam masala powder, fry until the raw smell goes.
Then add chopped and drained bottle gourd, stir-fry, add salt to taste, Cover the lid and cook until the bottle gourd becomes soft and tender, add little water if necessary.
Ensure the veggies are almost cooked/done, and the water gets absorbed completely then add milk,
Stir bring it to boil for 2 or 3 min
when it reaches to a thick grayish curry, switch off the flame. Garnish with chopped coriander.
Healthy and tasty Bottle gourd curry is ready. Serve as a side dish for Rotis/ pulkas.
