Black-gram sweet usli

Black-gram sweet Usli is a healthy and nutritious sweet dish prepared for girls in puberty. The ancient medicine recommends consuming de-husked urad dal as it is one of the fiber-rich food, Healthy foods have nutrients that are important for growth and development, these protein-rich foods have vitamins and minerals like iron and omega-3 fatty acids, which are particularly important during adolescence. Some traditional recipes are prepared which is f0llowed from generations in south India which is given on the day to three months, A very simple recipe where Black-gram is cooked and sweetened with jaggery and dry copra, ghee is added that is preferable to be consumed /served warm.
Ingredients:
Whole Black-gram – 1 cup
Jaggery – 3/4 cup
Dry copra – 1/2 cup grated
Ghee – 1 tbs
Water – 4 cups

Method:
Rinse 1 cup of black-gram discard the water, transfer it to a pressure cooker, add 4 cups of water and pressure cook it for 5 to 6 whistle on a medium flame. (4 cups of water is required to cook 1 cup of black-gram).
Once the pressure releases, open the cooker, ensure it is cooked/done. Bring it to boil until the water gets absorbed fully.
Add jaggery (crushed/powdered) cook until the jaggery dissolves on a medium-low flame.
Then add grated copra/dry coconut, saute for few mins. remove from the flame. Add ghee mix properly.
Serve warm Black-gram Sweet Usli with ghee.
