Beans curry I Beans palya recipe

Beans palya or hurlikai palya is a traditional side dish prepared for all occasions, a good accompaniment with rice, A side dish prepared using french Beans. This is a very common dish prepared in Mysore and Bangalore region, an ever time family recipe. Tastes very delicious and healthy, a simple and easy curry without onion.
Ingredients:
French beans/ Green beans – 250 gm chopped finely
Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
Chana dal – 1/2 tsp
Urad dal – 1/2 tsp
Green chilly – 2 to 3 no’s
Curry leaves – 1 spring
Ginger grated – 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida – 1 pinch (optional)
Coconut – 1/2 cup grated
Coriander – 1 small bunch chopped
Salt
Oil to fry

Method:
Rinse beans in water, drain the water in it. Steam it or cook it by adding little water and salt to taste, Cook until water in the vegges get absorbed completely, take care not to cook until mushy.
When it is done remove and set aside.
Heat oil in a pan, when it is hot add mustard seeds, allow it to sizzle, add chana and urad dal, fry until it turns to light brown, add grated ginger, green chilies saute for a while, add curry leaves, Immediately add cooked beans, toss it well
Add grated coconut, toss it once again , remove from the flame add chopped coriander, mix together.
Traditional healthy, all time favorite Beans palya is ready to serve. Enjoy as a side dish for rice or roti’s. You can also add fresh lemon juice finally which is optional.
