Balekai palya or raw banana curry recipe – Delicious south Indian curry

Raw banana curry is a simple south Indian curry recipe which is best enjoyed with plain rice or chapatis. Plantains provide a wide variety of health and nutritional benefits which is rich in fiber and vitamin content. It is an easy to make recipe with simple ingredients.

Ingredients –

Raw banana – 1 medium size chopped into medium pieces

Onion – 2 medium chopped

Channa dal – 2 tbs soaked/cooked

Curry leaves – 2 springs

Coriander leaves – 1/2 cup chopped

Grated coconut – 1/2 cup

Mustard seeds – 1 tsp

Coriander powder – 2 tsp

Chilly powder – 1 tsp

Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp

Salt to taste

Oil to fry

How to prepare or make balekai palya or raw banana curry –

Soak channa dal for 30 min or Pressure cook for 1 whistle and keep aside

Take a kadai heat it by adding oil in it when it is hot add mustard seeds when it begins to crackle add curry leaves and chopped fry till the onion becomes translucent

Add chopped raw banana and stir fry

Add channa dal and mix properly

Add danya/coriander powder,chilly powder ,turmeric powder and salt to taste mix altogether fry for a while till the raw smell goes,add 1/2 cup of water and close the lid of the kadai ,cook in a medium flame .

Cook till it is done ,add grated coconut mix altogeher

Turn off the flame garnish with coriander leaves and enjoy as a  side dish for rice/roti
