Alugadde palya or how to prepare potato palya

Alu Gadde palya, tastes great as a side dish with any kind of South Indian breakfast like idli, dosa, poori etc., It is very simple and easy and quick to prepare.
Preparation time : 15 min ,
Cooking time : 4 to 5 min
Serves – 4 TO 5.
Ingredients :
Potatoes (alugadde) – 3nos
Onion – 2nos (finely chopped)
Green chili – 3nos(finely chopped)
Curry leaves- about 10-15 leaves
Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
Chana dal-1tsp
Urad dal-1tsp
Cashew nuts-15nos
Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
Salt to taste.
Method:-
Cut potatoes into two pieces, add water until potatoes are immersed, Pressure cook for 5 to 6 whistles.
When the pressure of the cooker settle down on it’s own, remove the lid, remove boiled potatoes, add warm /cold water, peel the skin, mash it with a potato 🍠 mashera, to smooth mixture and keep ready.
Heat a pan add oil, when oil is hot, add mustard seeds, when it starts to sparkle add chana dal, urad dal and cashew, fry till it turns to golden brown (not to burn as it lead to bad taste), add curry leaves, green chili, sauté for 30 sec, then add onion and sauté till the onion are translucent, add boiled and mashed potato, add little water and mix together, add turmeric powder and salt to taste. Bring it to boil, for 2-3 min, finally add chopped coriander leaves. Turn off the flame.
Transfer the curry to a serving bowl garnish with coriander leaves and enjoy the playa with any dish with south Indian breakfast. Aluggude playa can be made more tastier by adding any vegetables. I prefer this plain alu playa especially for rawa idli.
