Aloo Bread Pakora I Bread Pakoda I Bread Bonda

Bread pakora recipe with stuffed mashed potatoes – bread pakora is a favorite breakfast and tea time snack. One of the popular street food also known as bread pakoda or Bajji. Potato stuffed bread sandwiches dipped in the pakora batter and fried. Aloo bread pakora is crunchy outside, spicy and soft inside. Do try and enjoy as an evening snack with a cup of tea.

Ingredients:

For stuffing –

Potato – 250 gm

Green peas – 1/4 cup (frozen)

Oil – 2 tbs

Cumin – 1/4 tsp

Sesame – 1/2 tsp

Ginger – 1 tsp grated

Garlic – 1 tsp chopped/grated

Green chilies – 2 grated

Turmeric – 2 pinch

Salt to taste

Coriander – a small bunch chopped

To make batter

Gram flour – 1 cup

Chilly powder – 1tsp

Turmeric – 2 pinch

Ajwain – 1/4 tsp

Asafoetida – 2 pinch

Salt to taste

Method:

Rinse potatoes, cut it into halves/ cubes pressure cook it for 3 or 4 whistles by adding 2 cup of water.

when the pressure of the cooker settles down by its own, open the lid of the pan, drain the water in it, allow it to cool, remove the skin of each potato and keep ready.

Boil Green peas (frozen) separately in a small vessel, add salt to taste. Once it is done drain the water in a colander and set aside.

Heat a shallow pan by adding oil to it, when it is hot add cumin allow it to splutter, then add sesame saute for few seconds, then add grated ginger, garlic and green chilies, fry until you get a nice aroma in a medium flame.

Add cooked potatoes, green peas turmeric, salt, mash it properly and keep aside. allow the mixture to cool completely.

Meanwhile, add all the ingredients in a bowl, mix it to batter similar to dosa batter consistency, (not too thick nor thin) add a spoon of oil mix it once again as there are no lumps in it.

Keep all the other ingredients handy.  Heat oil in a pan to deep fry aloo pakoras.

Apply Green chutney for two slices of bread

Stuff a layer of potato mixture, spread it evenly

Dip in the batter, gently so that the batter coats both side evenly, Drop it into hot sile gently.

Not to disturb for 2 to 3min, then flip it slowly to cook the other side, fry until it turns to lightly brown and crisp. Once done drain the oil it, put it on a plate spread with kitchen tissue, place it on it, cut it into 2 or 4 triangular pieces.

Continue the same for the rest.

Serve hot Bread pakora with Tomato sauce and Green chutney
