Akki thambittu recipe I roasted rice flour laddu

Thambittu is a authentic Karnataka sweet dish prepared usually for festivals, Akki Thambittu is a sweet dish prepared using rice flour which has a divine taste. Mostly prepared in the Bangalore, Mysore regions of Karnataka,there are different types of Thambittu made with different ingredients. Akki thambittu is prepared with (roasted) rice flour, jaggery, grated dry copra, cardamom and roasted nuts which taste delicious. Just try and enjoy.

Ingredients –
Rice flour – 1 bowl (made by roasted dosa rice)
Jaggery – 1 cup grated
Dry copra – 1/2 cup grated
Roasted peanuts – 1/2 cup
Roasted gram – 1/2 cup
Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
How to make or to prepare Tambittu –
To prepare rice flour for tambittu – Dry roast dosa rice until it turns to light brown in a low flame, allow it to cool and make a fine powder and set aside.
Add grated jaggery and a cup of water in a vessel, keep in a medium flame.
Add rice flour, grated dry copra, roasted peanuts, roasted gram, cardamom powder in a container, combine altogether and keep ready.
On low heat allow the jaggery to melt and when it melts bring it to boil for 3 to 4 min in a medium flame remove it from the flame.
Add jaggery mixture to the mixture
Gently mix it to entire mixture.
When the mixture is hot, press the mixture with your palm to give it a round shape and then hold the laddu with your left hand and keep rotating it while pressing the top portion of the laddu with the fore finger and the middle finger and the base with the thumb.
You can also give these laddus a round shape as desired.
Traditional tambittu is ready, allow it to cool and preserve it for months in a air tight container. Making these laddus, offering them to the Supreme and then eating them puts each and everyone happy 🙂
