Dry Fruit Kheer is a healthy and tasty dessert . A traditional south Indian kheer recipe which is prepared by using healthy ingredients like Milk, Rock Candy (Kallu Sakkare in Kannada), dry copra, poppy seeds, almonds, cashew nuts, dry dates, which makes a delicious and nutritious drink, which is usually served in traditional occasions, especially served for married couples, grown up children,When you need variety of taste in your food along with energy and health during  fasting, festivals and special occasions in your family, this dry fruit kheer recipe is a perfect option, which is very easy to prepare recipe.    

Preparation time – 10 min

Cooking time – 20 min

Serves – 4

Ingredients  –

Milk – 1 liter

Dry copra/ coconut – 4 tbs grated

Poppy seeds – 1 tbs

Almonds – 12 no’s

Dry dates – 6 no’s

Cashew nut – 10 no’s

Cardamom – 2 no’s

Red Rock candy ( Kallu sakkare) – 200 gm

Procedure  to make or to prepare dry fruits kheer – 

Dry roast poppy seeds to golden brown in colour and allow it to cool.

Take a mixer jar add grated coconut, dry fruits, roasted poppy seeds, cardamom

Run the mixer to make a fine paste by adding water and set aside.

Make a fine paste as possible (super fine paste) and keep ready.

Take a heavy bottomed pan, add milk into it and bring it to boil in a medium flame.

when milk starts boiling, add rock candy (kallu sakkare) allow it to dissolve in a low flame. Stir occasionally.

when rock candy dissolves completely in milk, add prepared paste into it and stir continuously to avoid  lumps formation.

Bring it to boil for 5 to 8 min in a medium  flame.

Traditional dry fruits kheer is ready to serve.You can serve it hot as well as chilled.

Note – You can add dry fruits of your choice, except raisins.

Make a fine paste as much as possible to prepare this kheer, to get a perfect taste.

This traditional drink is prepared with red rock candy (Kempukallu sakkare) which is very healthy and  has many health benefits.

    One doubt why we are not roasting the nuts in ghee.. can it be done to enhance the taste

      Thank you 😊 it’s a traditional recipe passed from generations.you can also ghee roast the nuts to blend.
