Lemon shavige bhath recipe – Healthy breakfast recipe

Lemon shavige bhath is a very healthy and delicious breakfast or snack dish made from plain rice noodles/rice shavige. If you have the plain idiyappam ready, it is quick and easy to prepare lemon shavige bhath. Plain idiyappam/sevai is flavored with lemon juice and seasoned with urad dal, chana dal and other spices which is very popular breakfast in South India.

How to prepare lemon shavige bhath
Ingredients –
Rice shavige/idiyappam – 200 gm
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Ground nuts – 3 tbs
Cashew nuts – 15 to 20 no’s
Chana dal – 1 tsp
Urad dal – 1 tsp
Green chillies – 4 chopped
Curry leaves – 3 springs
Coriander leaves – 1 bunch chopped
Ginger – 1 tsp grated
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Lemon juice – 1 tbs
Coconut – 1 cup grated
Salt to taste
Oil to fry
Procedure –
Cook plain rice shavige/idiyappam drain out the water and keep ready.
Heat a kadai by adding oil in it,when oil becomes hot add mustard seeds when it becomes to crackle add ground nuts, cashew nuts,urad dal and chana dal fry until it turns to golden brown (do not over burn or under cook)
Add green chillies,curry leaves,grated ginger fry for a while.
Add turmeric powder and lemon juice mix together add grated coconut
Turn off the flame,mix cooked rice shavige/idiyappam
Mix with the prepared mixture properly.
Finally add fresh coriander leaves mix once again.
Healthy and tasty lemon shavige bhath is ready to be served,enjoy the dish with coconut chutney.
