Chicken curry with Indian field beans recipe

Indian field beans (Avarekalu) acquires lot of importance in Karanataka in the winter season. It is good in taste and many varieties of the dishes and cuisine are prepared with this bean. Here is one the curry with chicken prepared by adding beans which is peeled and soaked in water and then removing the skin of the bean(Hitikida Avarekalu), which gives a special taste and flavour to the curry, which goes good with rice, roti, poori, akki roti, chapathi and raggi mudde.

Cooking time – 20 min
Serves – 4 to 6.
Ingredients: For seasoning with chicken
Chicken – 1 kg
Soaked and peeled Indian field bean(Hitikida Avarekalu) – 1 cup
Onion – 1 medium(chopped)
Coriander leaves – 1 bunch (chopped)
Mint leaves (pudina) – 1 bunch (chopped)
Fenugreek leaves – 1 bunch ( chopped).
Dill leaves – 1 bunch ( chopped).
Ingredients: to grind
Coconut (grated ) – 1 cup
Onion – 2 medium (cut into medium pieces)
Ginger – 1 inch
Garlic – 10 cloves
Cinnamon – 3 nos
Cloves – 4 nos
Coriander powder – 1 1/2 tbs
Chili powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Poppy seeds – 1 tsp
Salt to taste.
Oil to fry
How to prepare or make chicken curry with Indian field beans –
Take a pressure cooker pan heat it by adding oil, when oil is hot add chopped onion, when onion becomes translucent add chopped herbs and fry till you get the fresh aroma. Then add Indian field beans (Hitikida averakalu) stir fry.
Add chicken pieces into it and mix altogether add salt to taste and cook the chicken till the water evaporates fully.
Take a mixer jar add the ingredients to grind for masala as shown in the picture above, make a paste of it.
Add the prepared masala to the chicken and mix properly by adding water to it.
Pressure cook one whistle, when the cooker is cool bring the curry to boil for 5 to 8 minutes.
Curry is ready to be served.
