Mutton pepper fry recipe I Lamb pepper fry

Mutton pepper fry – A simple delicious fry recipe with mutton that goes great with Rotis, rice, and dal or even dosas. A quick and easy to make recipe with simple ingredients, mutton is marinated with aromatic spices and cooked with onion and curry leaves, freshly pounded pepper powder is added finally which adds more flavor and taste to the dish.
Ingredients:
For marination –
Lamb mutton – 1 kg
Garlic – 10 pods peeled
Ginger – 2 inches peeled and chopped roughly
Green chilly – 4 no’s
Pepper powder – 2 tsp
Chili powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
Coriander – 1 tsp
Garam masala powder – 1 tsp
Cumin Powder – 1 tsp
Tomato – 1 or 2 chopped
Salt – 1 tsp
For seasoning –
Onion – 2 no’s chopped
Curry leaves – 1 spring
Coriander for garnishing – small bunch chopped
pepper powder – 1 tsp

Method:
Rinse and clean mutton lamb pieces, drain the water in it with a colander, and keep ready.
grind/pound /crush ginger, garlic, and green chilies without adding water to a paste and keep ready.
Add mutton in a bowl, ginger-garlic- green chili paste, with dry spices, toss it well, add chopped tomatoes, mix well and set aside for 1 hour (or more in the refrigerator)
Heat 2 tbs of oil in a pressure cooker pan, when it is hot fry chopped onion, add curry leaves, saute until onion turn translucent.
Now add marinated mutton. Saute on a medium flame for 10 mins.
add 2 cups of water, pressure cook for 5 to 6 whistles.
When the pressure of the cooker settles on its own, open the lid, check the mutton if it is cooked bring it to boil, (if mutton is not cooked continue to cook for 2 or 3 whistles). boil until the water is absorbed completely.
Add freshly pounded pepper powder about 1 tsp, mix with the curry.
Finally, add chopped coriander, turn off the flame.
Enjoy yummy and spicy Mutton pepper fry as a side with rice/ roti’s/ perfect with biryani, paratha, or pulao.
